Overseas UMNO Club Members Not To Forget Roots, Country’s History
KUALA LUMPUR Oct 17 (Bernama) – Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor today reminded Overseas Umno Club members not to forget their roots and the country’s history when abroad.
He said it was important that they maintained and strengthened their self-identity when in a foreign land.
“Everyone of us has a history and before we go abroad, we have to realise who we are and where we stand because it is history that will make our future and the country better,” he said at the closing of a three-day course for Overseas Umno Club leaders here today.
Tengku Adnan also advised them not to be deceived by negative reports against the government by the new media, like the various news portals.
He suggested that Malaysian students abroad to follow the country’s political development and current issues through the Umno portal at www.umno-online.com, instead of referring to only one source.
“Our problem is that we prefer cheap entertainment. When people revile others, we like it because it is cheap entertainment. We have to get out of this cocoon.
“If we don’t make changes, believe me, we will never succeed,” he added.
He said Overseas Umno Club members “should be the eyes, ears and mouth for the government”.
At the function, Tengku Adnan launched a book, titled “Buku Motivasi Pembelajaran Meniti Puncak”, a guidebook for students sitting for the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah, Penilaian Menengah Rendah and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia.
The book will be distributed to schools in the rural areas.
