Football Boost For Galas BN Election Workers
GUA MUSANG, Oct 29 – About 700 Barisan Nasional (BN) polling district workers for the Galas state by-election will get to watch the Malaysia Cup soccer final match in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.
They will be taken to the federal capital and brought back in buses, said BN election director for the by-election, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.
“We are arranging 17 buses to take them to Kuala Lumpur. They are given a day’s leave and will be brought back after the match,” he told reporters after launching a 1Youth 1Malaysia futsal tournament, here.
Tengku Razaleigh said the BN workers were disappointed that they could not get tickets to watch the match, between Kelantan and Negeri Sembilan at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium at 8.45pm tomorrow.
“This is not an excuse to buy votes. The are no conditions. We give it to our workers, our party workers. Only for them. The beneficiaries are those who have registered as BN party workers in the polling districts,” he said.
Tengku Razaleigh, who is Gua Musang MP, said the election campaign was going on smoothly but several weaknesses had to be ironed out before polling.
The Nov 4 by-election is a straight fight between Abdul Aziz Yusoff of the BN and Dr Zulkefli Mohamed of PAS. It has been necessitated by the death of the assemblyman, Che Hashim Sulaima (rpt) Sulaima, 46, of PAS, on Sept 27.
