Teck Lee Tainted With Betrayals – Rahman Dahlan
SANDAKAN, Oct 29 – Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan has called on voters to evaluate the political credibility of Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) president Datuk Yong Teck Lee before casting their ballots in the Batu Sapi parliamentary by-election on Nov 4.
Abdul Rahman, the Kota Belud MP, said Yong’s political career in the past had been tainted with ‘betrayals’ while several decisions made during Yong’s tenure as the Sabah chief minister had been described as controversial.
“Yong was one of those who had urged Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan to leave the BN.
“However, upon seeing that the PBS was almost losing, Yong himself had left the PBS to form a new party and subsequently joined the BN before announcing his decision to leave the BN again in 2008,” Abdul Rahman claimed.
Thus, Yong’s credibility in championing the cause of the Sabah people by playing up the slogan “Sabah for the Sabahans” should be questioned because he had never been consistent in his political struggles.
Of course, the concept ‘Sabah for the Sabahans’ sounded nice but it was difficult to implement in the federation. Furthermore, the slogan played up by the SAPP was nothing new but had always been raised during the elections and had failed to get any support,” he said.
