Russia Gets 2012 World Cup, Qatar 2022
KUALA LUMPUR 3 Dec. – International football governing body FIFA has picked Russia to host the 2012 World Cup and Qatar for the 2022 World Cup.
The announcement by FIFA president Sept Blatter at its headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, sparked celebration by people at the winning host countries.
Among those bidding to host the 2012 World Cup were England, Spain and Portugal, Netherlands and Belgium.
Qatar beat out other countries like South Korea, Japan, Australia, and United States.
This is the first time that FIFA had announced two host countries at the same time.
