Batu Sapi MP Proves Herself Worthy With Maiden Speech
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 – Datin Linda Tsen delivered her maiden speech in the Dewan Rakyat today, and proved herself as a worthy MP of Batu Sapi in Sabah.
Tsen took the opportunity to thank Prime Minister and Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for his trust in her to be the BN candidate in the Nov 4 by-election.
The by-election was held following the death of her MP husband Datuk Edmund Chong Ket Wah in a road accident on Oct 9.
Tsen also expressed her thanks to Sabah BN Chairman and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) President Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan.
“With the cooperation and support of all quarters, I garnered double the majority in the by-election. I am determined to continue the work my late husband had been doing and will work harder to maintain the people’s confidence in the BN,” she said.
Speaking during the debate on the Supply Bill at the committee stage, Tsen asked the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry not to marginalise Sabah in programmes related to science and technology.
She proposed the setting up of a science centre in Sabah to augment the two existing ones in the peninsula.
She also suggested that research and development on alternative energy or green energy, such as solar, wind, wave and biomass, be undertaken for the benefit of Sabah.
