Felda Yields Excellent Financial Results

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 – Felda’s financial growth continues to show encouraging performance, with the current value of its listed and non-listed shares and funds in its trust fund hitting more than RM8 billion, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said today.

He said Felda management tabled the current financial report at the agency’s management meeting today, also attended by him.

“I felt proud when the management reported that Felda’s financial resources are increasingly getting stronger and all Felda subsidiaries have also reported good results.

“In fact, Felda’s investment through the acquisitiion of a sugar company, (Malaysian Sugar Manufacturing) is also a very viable venture as its share price has increased from RM3.36 a share to RM5.30 now,” he said when speaking at the Felda Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house here today.

Najib said the performance proved that Felda, as an organisation, could attain success and would continue to implement various changes and development programmes.

Najib said among the development programmes being given attention was the housing programme for the second generation Felda settlers.

“The housing programme will be further expanded. Every Felda scheme without a housing scheme will have a housing project implemented and will increase housing projects in Felda schemes which already have housing projects,” he said.

The Prime Minister said the Felda community, particularly oil palm harvesters, were a fortunate lot as they could reap the benefits from the agency’s well-planned transformation programme.

“Now the monthly income of a Felda oil palm harvester has increased to RM4,500, making them medium-income earners in the country. Felda settlers have become a successful community,” he said.

Najib hoped Felda settlers would continue to support Felda and be grateful for what they have received all this while.

Earlier, Najib, who is also Finance Minister, witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between a Felda subsidiary, Felda Prodata Systems Sdn Bhd and India-based IT system provider, Tata Consultations Services.
